A couple of weeks ago, we received a very special enquiry from a very lovely lady: Jenna asked us if we could help her do the big chop so that she can donate her hair to charity.
We got curious and so later on we found out that Jenna had her own charity page going on at www.hairwithheart.everydayhero.com.au
There is no sad story behind this kind gesture, it is just a great opportunity to do a something good for someone in need. To quote her own words, this is how Jenna feels about this:
“I do not have a story of personal loss that has brought me to trying to help this cause. It’s purely because “why not?”. When someone has the capacity to do good in the world, shouldn’t they do just that? Be a part of the positivity.
On October 14 I will be snipping off 36cm of this lengthy mane to donate to Hair with Heart, which is a national hair donation campaign managed by Variety – the Children’s Charity.
I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.
Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety – the Children’s Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.”
With her page, Jenna managed to raise $2,787.30 plus let’s not forget about the precious locks she sent to be made into a wig! This story was really inspiring and we had lots of fun being part of it, but to do our own share of the story, the price of the haircut got donated as a support for this great cause.
Thank you Jenna for your braveness, for your big heart and for letting us be part of it.
Hope this will inspire more people to be kind enough to be an everyday hero!
